Areas of Practice
Recognizing risk before conflict begins.
Estate matters are rarely only about documents or distributions. They often involve family relationships, changing circumstances and difficult questions about aging, capacity and vulnerability. Tania helps clients understand those issues, plan carefully and address concerns before they become more complicated.
Through her legal work and published research, Tania has examined the legal and psychosocial factors that contribute to estate disputes involving dementia, vulnerability and family dynamics. Her paper, The Path to Scorched Earth Litigation: The Psychosocial and Legal Elements Causing Estate Disputes in Dementia Cases, considers why these conflicts develop and how uncertainty, family dynamics and communication can shape what follows.
That work reinforced Tania’s belief that thoughtful planning, clear communication and early intervention can help prevent conflict before it begins. She is particularly interested in protecting vulnerable individuals and addressing the legal issues that can arise through aging, incapacity and generational wealth transfers.
Whether preparing an estate plan, administering an estate or resolving a dispute, Tania helps clients recognize potential risks and make informed decisions with confidence.
Born and raised in Hamilton, Tania has strong roots in the local community. Outside the office, she enjoys travelling, spending time with family and experiencing different cultures and perspectives.
