Whether advancing a residential development project, structuring a transaction, assisting with the purchase or sale of a business, or drafting a will, James enjoys forging opportunities for clients while putting the right foundations in place. James is drawn to legal work that enables clients to build, move projects forward, and plan for the future.

His approach is thoughtful, practical and business-minded. Rather than focusing solely on the legal issue in front of him, James takes the time to understand what the client is trying to achieve and where they want to go next. That perspective allows him to provide advice that supports both the immediate transaction and the broader objective behind it.

Clients appreciate James’ accessibility, responsiveness and attention to detail. He believes good legal advice should be practical, understandable and tied directly to the outcome a client is working toward. Whether acting for a business owner, investor, developer or family, his goal is to become a trusted advisor clients can return to as their plans continue to evolve.

A lifelong Hamilton resident, James first joined the firm as a Summer Law Student before returning as an Articling Student. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time behind a drum kit and playing softball, hockey, and lacrosse.
